Join Mr. Shaw in introducing the aviation industry and aviation opportunities to our area middle school and high school age students.
Middle and high school students will have the opportunity to learn more about aviation and aviation-related job opportunities at Aviation Career Education (ACE) academies that will be held across North Carolina this summer. Students will learn about the theory of flight, aviation’s history, aircraft maintenance and new technologies. Attendees will study real world aviation applications, aviation principles such as thrust and vectoring, and aircraft construction. They also will have the opportunity to fly radio-controlled aircraft and work on aircraft model design projects, as well as take field trips to aviation industry businesses and have the opportunity to fly in an airplane.
ACE Academy is brought to you by Mr. James Shaw who is dedicated to helping the youth of the city reach their goals.
Mr. Jim Shaw, while serving on the Board of the NCDOT Division of Aviation, learned that ACE Academies had been established in four other NC cities. Mr. Shaw requested that an ACE Academy also be established in Winston-Salem and offered his services to organize and operate an ACE Academy there. Since then the ACE Academy has had six great years of service to our community.
The Winston-Salem ACE Academy runs for two weeks. Middle school and High school students will meet in the summer. Final dates TBD.
